Retrial queues with limited number of retrials : Numerical Investigations
نویسندگان
چکیده
Retrial queues are frequently observed in a real world system likewise call center or internet service industries. In this paper, a retrial queue system in which the number of retrials of each customer is limited by a finite number, say m is considered. That is, if a customer fails to enter the service facility at mth retrial, then the customer leaves the system without service. The effects of restricting the number of retrials are investigated numerically by using the algorithmic method and simulation experiments.

Algorithmic approach to Markovian multi-server retrial queues with vacations
There are many practical situations that have both features of customer retrials and server vacations. The vacation policy is characterized by the vacation startup rules and vacation termination rules. The queueing system with retrials and vacations has been described in variety of ways according to the vacation rules and retrial policies such as constant retrial policy and linear retrial polic...
متن کاملAnalysis of the Number of Orbiting Customers in M/g/1 Retrial Queue with General Retrial Times
The research in the area of retrial queues focused mainly on the fact that the retrials operate under classical retrial policy, which suppose that the intervals between successive repeated attempts are exponentially distributed with total rate jθ (j is the number of customers in the orbit). There is another discipline, called constant retrial policy, where the total retrial rate does not depend...
متن کاملA Model of Rational Retrials in Queues
Consumers often have to join a queue before they can obtain a service; however, they suffer disutility in waiting for the service. When consumers can self-organize the timing of their service visits, they may avoid long queues and choose to retry later. Nevertheless, the existing research on decision-making in queues has focused mainly on join or balk decisions, while acknowledging that some co...
متن کاملThe Impact of Retrials on the Performance of Self-Organizing Systems
This article describes the application of the theory of retrial queues in capturing certain aspects of self-organizing behavior that arises, for example, in Peer-to-Peer networks. It can be shown that retrials have a fair effect on the performance of such self-organizing systems, and thus, should be taken into account adequately during the design and evaluation of these systems. Moreover, it ca...
